Oman has amazing winter weather, sunny skies with average daily highs in the mid 20sC / low 80sF. The summer is hot except in Salalah where the “Khareef” season keeps everything mild and green with rain. Generally it is more humid along the coast and dry in the mountains and deserts. During winter, it can be quite cool in the mountains.
Is Oman Safe?
Based on our firsthand experience living in Oman, we can attest that Oman is a safe country. But here is what two recent guests said: “It’s probably the safest country I have ever visited.” David, Dec 2024 “I have never felt more safe and peaceful in my travels.” Tamara, Feb 2025 Oman boasts low rates of serious and violent crime, with incidents being rare. Additionally, according to the U.S. Department of State, Oman has never experienced a terrorist attack targeting U.S.citizens .
What should I wear in Oman?
Oman is a conservative Muslim country and modesty is appreciated, especially for women. Both men and women can wear short sleeves, and long pants or long shorts are appropriate. For women, long skirts and dresses can be quite comfortable in the warm weather. It is preferred for men and women to cover shoulders and knees.
What kind of visa will I need?
Visitors from 103 countries in the world automatically receive a visa on arrival in Oman for 14-days. If you will be visiting longer than 14 days you can get a 30 day e-visa by following just a few simple steps. https://www.fm.gov.om/visitors/entry-visas/
I’m vegan, will I be able to order in restaurants?
Absolutely. While the selection may be limited, there are usually vegetarian, vegan, and other options available (gluten-free, dairy-free).
Will I need to bring cash?
Most places in Oman accept credit cards, and safe and secure ATMs are widely available.
